Goddesses of the Rose Lineage
My first exposure to the goddess of the Rose Lineage wasn’t Mary Magdalene, or Mother Mary. It was the Venus de Willendorf. My undergraduate degree studies were combined Cultural Anthropology and Art History, so when I learned about the Venus figurines, I couldn’t help but wonder, why was modern religion so devoid of the divine feminine? That question was the catalyst, a key that would open the door to the feminine divine.
Since Christianity is such a dominant presence in American culture, I started looking at which women archetypes, goddesses, and lore centered women. I read Meggan Watterson’s book Mary Magdalene Revealed and was glad I did because, as all good books do, it introduced me to the rose lineage—a thread of goddesses with surprisingly similar narratives.
